TurboFire and Chalene Johnson have a strong appeal for anyone who is addicted to cardio and interested in an up-beat, high-powered, kickboxing-styled workout that BURNS FAT. However, not everybody will feel the same, and because there are lots of small differences to consider – especially if you’re trying to decide between TurboFire and another similar program – I’ve put together a pros and cons review list for you.
Things you’ll love about TurboFire
“New To Class” Section
If you’ve never done any of these kinds of workouts, or if you just have a question about some of the moves in the sessions, one of the options that each cardio workout has is the “New to Class” section, in which Chalene guides you through the workout step-by-step.
The Music Options
Turbofire matches a kind of techno-jam soundtrack with Chalene’s kickboxing craziness, and it flat gets you moving. However, if you’ve pretty much memorized the class and don’t want to hear so much of Chalene’s explanations and encouragement, you can choose the “Pumped Up” option and turn up the soundtrack while turning down Chalene. So long as you’re okay with this style of music, you’ll appreciate the choice.
The people in TurboFire are real. It feels like everyone you see on camera is actually working and struggling, just like you are.
If you’re not sure you want to dive right into TurboFire and need a little help getting up to speed, the prep schedule gets your body ready by taking you through a modified schedule until you are ready for the full TurboFire plan.
Everyone doesn’t begin a workout in the same place – even if you are reasonably fit you may be having an “off” day and not feel up to speed. TurboFire has a class member showing modifications for each of the exercises in the workout session. You can follow those modifications or create your own.
20 Week Program (Advanced only)
The standard version of TurboFire is 12 weeks, but if you purchased the advanced/deluxe version of TurboFire, you’ll get a 20 week program. Most other workout programs are either 8 or 12 weeks.
TurboFire/ChaLEAN Hybrid Follow Up Program
TurboFire includes a schedule for you to consider doing after you finish TurboFire. It’s another 20 weeks of how to make a TurboFire/ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid program. This is a great idea for anyone who’s ever finished a workout program and wondered what to do next.
Potential Drawbacks to TurboFire
No Plan for Muscle Building
The simple truth is that muscle helps you burn fat, and if TurboFire had included a muscle-building section, you might see even better results. Still, you’ll get every part of your body worked with cardio, core, and stretching.
Similar to other workouts
Don’t get TurboFire expecting something totally original that you’ve never seen before. The “non-HIIT” cardio sessions are similar to Turbo Jam/Turbo Kick workouts. (On the other hand, you will probably pick up the moves very quickly.)
